Life's better on the Funny Side! Stand-up comedy workshops and direction

Alongside our passion for mentoring emerging comedians, teaching stand-up skills and staging comedy performances, Funny Side Collective was created to explore the potential of stand-up comedy as socially engaged practice.

We run comedy workshops in diverse settings, sometimes with marginalised groups, sometimes with people who have experienced specific challenges and sometimes with those who simply have funny and fascinating stories to tell – i.e. everyone!

Creating comedy is always a collaboration – between comedians, performers, actors, clowns, writers, directors and their audiences. Funny Side Collective brings together artists and teachers with community groups and organisations from all over the world 

On community projects, Sam Beale works closely with our partners and encourage all participants to discover their unique way of using comedy to reimagine their stories and perhaps shift perspectives on their experiences.
